Training and Round up News

Barca will play Bayer in the Champions league second round tonight. We already have the Quarter finals in reach we just have to finish the job off it stands at 3-1 at the moment so hopefully we can add more too that. The players were looking very happy in traning  yesterday and today I love to see a smile on their faces.

I didn’t realise tying Messi and Xavi to the goal post apart off training but I think its to do with weights. I’m sure Bayer wouldn’t mind tying these two to the post tonight.

Speaking of Xavi, In tonight’s game just before kick-off UEFA will give a cheque to Xavi for 100,000 euro for being voted by internet users as captain of the team of the year 2011. Xavi has said he donating the money to the red cross, A project for the rehabilitation of victims of landmines in Afghanistan. He said he was proud to be able to help people who need it.

The FC Barcelona midfielder was voted for by over 100,000 users of the UEFA website as captain of the Team of the Year for 2011. In addition to these hundred thousand votes, the Barça player received 262,027, which allowed him to form part of the midfield of this ideal team. Xavi was not the only Barça player in the starting eleven, because also in the team were Alves, Piqué, Iniesta, and Messi, plus the manager, Pep Guardiola.

Xavi recognized that it is “an honor to be part of the team and also be the captain. I am very pleased to represent European and World football, and this time we are helping people who need it most, and it makes me very proud”. The Barça player, very conscious of the need to help people most in need, added: “It is really important to help. We are very privileged people doing what we do, which is also our passion. Being a footballer is my job, but it’s also my ‘hobby’ and my passion.

Pep had to change around his team because Puyol and Alexis will not be able to play tonight. So he has called up Tello, Muniesa, Barta, Sergi Roberto, Dos Santos and Montoya. Also Bayer are without key players Corluka,Ballack, Sam and Alder. Bayer have nothing to lose so I’m sure tonight they will give it there all.

Speaking of  Pep there has been lots of rumors going around that he is in the sight of roman abramovich for the Chelsea job but last night on revista de la liga where the two journalists who have great connections to nearly every club in spain. Have said that pep has met up in the house of president sandro rosell to discuss his future and the board of directors have said that the outcome is very good.. Pep wants more backing for Rosell on the issue with referees and other things It is ha been said it wasn’t a question of money it’s about his personal life and the toll it has taken on his body.

In my opinion I don’t think he will go and either will Jose Mourinho. Chelsea is the worst job to have ,the coach has no say. Roman should just become coach and manage the team the way he likes. If either were to leave for England it would be a step down the English league is no way as good as the Spanish league. It’s getting annoying now with the English press saying that they are going to Chelsea.

Training from today I wonder what was so funny.

Barcelona Vs Sporting Gijon

A very interesting match if I do say so. First half was pretty crap on Barcelona’s part we had plenty of chances but no one could find the back of the net we were really missing Messi and Sporting gave them a good go for the first 45 and then finally Barca kicked some ass.

It was a nervous one at times and pep looked like he was about to kill someone at one stage. If you looked down on the touch-line Pep was doing his hand gestures and going crazy he had me in stitches of laughter .They should make a special show of just Pep on the side-lines.

We Finally got a goal in the forty-second minute  after Iniesta scored a brilliant goal but it could have come sooner but Barca were finding it hard to break down sporting and it was showing on the players faces they were clearly frustrated. Also It’s hard to believe that it was Iniesta’s first la liga goal this season.

After that the pressure had come off a bit. And then it all goes wrong it wouldn’t be Barcelona if that didn’t happen. The right in the first minte of the second half Pique goes and gets himself sent off after making a stupid foul on De las Cuevas.( If Pep wasn’t pissed at him before this he is now. You should have seen Pep’s face he was not impressed). Pique had to be pushed off the pitch by Xavi before he got himself a long-term ban for back chatting the Ref. I love Xavi being all bossy.

And then it got bloody worse for us  David Barrel scores and its 1-1. (David Barrel came through the Real Madrid Cantera so I’m sure he is enjoying this). A draw is not good for Barca we can kiss the league goodbye if we don’t win every game.

Second half Pep brings on Tello and Alexis and things start to look up. One thing to add Cristian Tello is hot like really hot like on fire kinda hot.

78 minute Keita scores and amazing goal he must be taking tips from Messi.

And Pep was comical he hands were going mental and Xavi face was a picture haha but being serious I love Pep for his passion for the club no cares for Barca more than him. He lives and breathes Barca.

Messi looked like he wanted to be down there playing It’s so weird seeing him in the stands instead of the pitch we really did miss him today on the field.

.

In the 85 minute Dani Alves is the latest player to pick up a yellow card like really I don’t know what was up with this ref but he nearly gave every player a card he was giving them out like no tomorrow. I love this Picture of Alves he looks like he is doing a magazine pose saying take my picture I’m ready.

Finally when you thought the game was coming to an end my favorite little magician xavi scores in the 88 minute in amazing style. But a bit of bad news to end on, Poor Alexis it had been reported when he got back from International duty he had upset a muscle in his leg so when it was in the 91 minute he looked like he injured himself and left the field looking rather upset.Update on Alexis – The club has said he has a small tear in his right leg and will be out for 10 to 15 days so he will miss the game with Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday in the Champions league . And Barca had to finish the game off with 9 men.

Also the injured boys were in attendance. What is up with them all holding their hands to their mouths. David Villa is looking good lately and formula one driver Fernando Alonso was there also.

After the Match Pep held a press conference and said that he is happy with how the players reacted. Guardiola said that the match is a morale boost for the team.

He also praised Seydou Keita’s performance saying he has never let him down and he makes his job easier. Also he praised Sporting. He added that they won against a very defensive side in a match that turned against us. I’m happy with how the players reacted when they went down to 10 men and were on level terms. When asked about Pique he just brushed the subject off.

Lionel Messi Q&A Interview for Times Magazine

I love this Interview. He comes across as such a nice person. He talks about his life,Football, Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo.

On how he judges his own success: I don’t know. Every time I start a year, I start with the objective of trying to achieve everything, without comparing it to how I’ve done in other seasons, to what I’ve accomplished before, or to what we’ve accomplished as a group. For me, what’s happened has happened, and I’m always looking toward what’s ahead. You don’t have time to stop and think about everything that happens, it all happens too quickly. When I retire, I’ll stop and think about that.

On how his skills have evolved: I can’t really say. Year after year, I’ve grown, improved. I was lucky to start very young and always have very good colleagues around me as I was coming up, and this has helped me and how I play. And with [Barcelona coach Pep] Guardiola, I learned to play tactically, which is what I most needed, what my game needed. From the tactical point of view, it’s been about knowing how to stop [to think] on the field when we don’t have the ball. And that makes us better when we have it.

On whether he’s had to sacrifice fun in the pursuit of excellence: I never thought that. I always thought I wanted to play professionally, and I always knew that to do that I’d have to make a lot of sacrifices. I made sacrifices by leaving Argentina, leaving my family to start a new life. I changed my friends, my people. Everything. But everything I did, I did for football, to achieve my dream. That’s why I didn’t go out partying, or a lot of other things.

On his low-key lifestyle: I’ve always been this way, ever since I was young. I’ve always really just liked football, and I’ve always devoted a lot of time to it. When I was a kid, my friends would call me to go out with them, but I would stay home because I had practice the next day. I like going out, but you have to know when you can and when you can’t. That’s why I say nothing’s changed since I was young. My friends would go out and I’d stay home. But not for nothing, because I knew it had to be that way, and at that moment, I was dedicated to football.

On his first experiences at Barcelona’s famous La Masía training school: It helped me a lot because I came [from Argentina] alone, and I was with all the guys in the Masía, I was one of them. We were all from someplace else, and we helped each other. The truth is that there were a lot of happy moments because we were there together for a lot of time, and the relationships between all of us got stronger and stronger. Lots of happy times.

On his preparations for the next World Cup, and what he learned from the last one: I’m preparing now like I would for any match, any important match whether it’s the World Cup or Champions League or the Copa del Rey. I play all games the same, as if they were all finals. Nothing changes in my preparations.

On whether playing for Argentina in the World Cup brought a different kind of pressure: No, we feel pressure with every match: not just me, but anyone who’s on a national team. What I can say that I learned [in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa] is that the most important thing is that the team be strong, that they be united. That’s what’s important in a tournament that is so short.

On whether his rivalry with Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo makes him a better player: I don’t think so. I never really fixated on him or compared myself with another player. My mentality is just to achieve more each year, to grow both as an individual and as a team, and if he wasn’t there, I’d be doing the same thing.

On what he thinks of Ronaldo: I think he’s a good person. I think he’s a good player, who brings a lot to Madrid, and who, in any moment, can decide a game.

On whether, when Ronaldo scores in a game, he feels pressure to do likewise: No. I care about how Madrid’s doing because they’re competing against us, and they’re in our League, and because almost every year, we compete for the title. But against Ronaldo, no.

On his competitiveness, and how he feels when he loses: I am competitive and I feel bad when we lose. You can see it in me when we’ve lost. I’m in a bad way. I don’t like to talk to anyone. I just retreat into myself and go over the game in my head: the things that went wrong, what I did wrong, why we didn’t win.

On how long he broods: Until the next game. Luckily we play a lot, so it happens quickly.

On how he feels when criticized by fellow Argentines for his performances with the national team: Yes, yes, it hurt, it bothered me. Because they said things that weren’t true — that I didn’t care as much about wearing the [Argentine] shirt. I didn’t feel that, I didn’t think that. And now, I think what people there understand that this is a team game, and that I try to play the same way there as I do in Barcelona, and always do the best I can.

On his strong identification with Argentina, despite having lived in Barcelona since age 12: I’ve never stopped being Argentine, and I’ve never wanted to. I feel very proud of being Argentine, even though I left there. I’ve been clear about this since I was very young, and I never wanted to change. Barcelona is my home because both the club and the people here have given me everything, but I won’t stop being Argentine.

On why he feels his countrymen are finally warming to him: You see it in the affection that people there have, for what they say on television. Before, there was a lot of criticism and everything was bad. And now it’s not like that. That’s good, because every country I go to, people have always received me very well, and in my own country that wasn’t happening.

On whether this adulation puts more pressure on him to score: No, I play the same as always. Whether it’s a friendly match, or for points, or a final, or any game — I play the same. I’m always trying to be my best, first for my team, for myself, for the fans, and to try and win.

On the qualities of his teammates that he admires: I haven’t changed my values, the values that I learned from my family. They’re the same ones I brought to Barça, to the club, that the guys in charge at La Masía teach to the kids: respect, humility, collegiality, respect one another no matter who he is.

On the World Cup 2014, and whether it will be his moment to silence his critics: I hope so. I hope it’s the moment for Argentina and that we can become champions. I’m going [to Brazil] because I want to be a champion and share the World Cup with my national team. But if it doesn’t turn out that way, I can’t do anything about it. And there’s still a lot of time. There’s still a lot of time to prepare and to improve.

Whats Going On With Pique

I am feeling a little sorry for poor old Pique lately. His been getting a lot of flack for his personal life since his got together with a certain colombian singer his football has come under some pressure. He is now always in the media for the wrong reasons like parking his very expensive car on a double yellow line in Barcelona and the door being took of by an on coming bus and the other one pep is really pissed off about Is Pique partying the night away in Barcelona nightclubs when he should be at home resting.

The barcelona technical staff have being asking his father what is going on because they are seriously worried about the way he is heading and had asked his father to talk to him

Pep  has left him on the bench in recent weeks and was not to happy with him last week when the Barcelona players had a day off Pep had asked his players to do some charity work going visiting their projects etc all did they had gone to their different foundations and then there is Pique who went and watched a fashion show with Shakira that just happened to be in every spanish magazine.

But I can understand why pep is so angry with him. Pep doesn’t like this kind of showing of lifestyle and to be honest I don’t like it either they get paid way too much money to be messing up their careers. Like does anyone remember Ronaldino and deco(The party boys of barca who got the attention for all the wrong things like their party antics and all the different women) Pep wanted them gone as soon as he got there hopefully him and Pique will be back to being buddies again.

Do people think his relationship with Shakira has brought him into the showbiz media way too much and its putting pressure on his football career ?

But hopefully he will be back to playing his best soon we need that smile back on his pretty face.

Talk about if looks could kill wouldn’t want to be that photographer right now. But the Girl behind him looks so happy slightly boarding on looking like a bit of a stalker ( I wonder did he turn around and see her hehe)
